Most companies run on the Microsoft ecosystem — Outlook calendars, Teams meetings, and Microsoft 365 accounts. LockMyCal integrates with Microsoft on multiple levels. In this guide, we explain how to select the right setup and what details to keep in mind.

Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, and Outlook.com

For cloud-hosted Microsoft accounts — corporate Microsoft 365 / Exchange Online as well as personal Outlook.com — the Microsoft Outlook integration is the primary choice. Connection is handled via Microsoft Graph:

  1. Under Integrations → Calendars → Connect Calendar, choose Outlook.
  2. Sign in with your Microsoft credentials and authorize calendar access.
  3. Select which calendars to read for busy time checks and which calendar to write confirmed bookings to.

Calendar updates propagate within seconds via push notifications.

Corporate Exchange Server (On-Premise)

If your organization maintains its own private on-premise Exchange server, choose the Microsoft Exchange (EWS) integration. You will need:

  • The EWS endpoint URL (typically https://mail.yourdomain.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx),
  • Your username formatted as user@yourdomain.com or DOMAIN\user,
  • Password and mailbox email address.

LockMyCal reads availability from Exchange and writes back confirmed appointments. If the server is only reachable within an internal network, run your LockMyCal instance self-hosted within the same network.

Decision Guide: Exchange Online / Microsoft 365 → Outlook integration. On-premise private Exchange server → Exchange integration.

Microsoft Teams Video Meetings

Connect Teams under Integrations → Video → Microsoft Teams, then select location Video and provider Microsoft Teams in your meeting type settings. For every booking, a complete Teams room is generated, accessible by attendees directly from their browser.

Key considerations:

  • Teams meetings can be created by work or school Microsoft 365 accounts with Teams enabled. Personal Outlook.com accounts generally do not support video room provisioning.
  • When an appointment is rescheduled, the Teams meeting moves automatically with it, preserving the join link. When cancelled, the meeting is safely removed.
  • Connecting an Outlook calendar is not a prerequisite for Teams — each integration connects independently.

Microsoft Account Sign-In

You can sign in to LockMyCal using your Microsoft account — whether personal, corporate, or educational. During initial registration via Microsoft, your email address is prefilled and verified securely via email confirmation.

Self-Hosting Tip: Unified Entra ID App

Running self-hosted LockMyCal? You only need to register a single application in Microsoft Entra ID to handle Outlook calendar sync, Teams video generation, and Microsoft SSO. Register these three redirect URIs:

  • https://yourdomain.com/auth/teams/video/callback
  • https://yourdomain.com/auth/microsoft/callback

and configure OUTLOOK_CLIENT_ID, OUTLOOK_CLIENT_SECRET, OUTLOOK_STATE_SECRET, and optionally ENABLE_MICROSOFT_AUTH=true.
