Brief evaluation of Calendly

Calendly is the most widely adopted market standard with an extensive catalog of CRM integrations. However, it is a proprietary cloud tool with strict per-seat licensing ($10–$16/mo per user) and customer data stored on third-party US infrastructure.

Our take: Why choose LockMyCal?

LockMyCal provides a modern, independent alternative. You get 100% ownership over your scheduling, turnkey Docker self-hosting, and flat Pro plan pricing without multiplier fees per user.

Questions

Frequently asked questions about the comparison

Answers to the most frequent questions about migration, calendar synchronization, security and licenses.

Can I use LockMyCal with my existing Google or Outlook calendar?

Yes, of course. LockMyCal supports two-way real-time synchronization with Google Calendar, Microsoft 365, Outlook, Microsoft Exchange, Apple Calendar and any CalDAV server. Events are written instantly and when a collision occurs, the slot is blocked automatically.

What is the main difference compared to Calendly from the privacy point of view?

Calendly is a closed third-party cloud service that stores all data about your clients on its servers. You can run LockMyCal on your own infrastructure in the EU or in a Docker container, so nobody else has access to your meetings and contacts.

How demanding is running LockMyCal on your own server (Self-Hosting)?

LockMyCal is designed with an emphasis on maximum efficiency. A single Docker command or an integration into platforms such as Cloudron or Railway is enough to start it. It requires only minimal system resources (500 MB of RAM, 1 GB recommended) and works on any common VPS.

Does LockMyCal support automation and connections to other tools?

Yes. LockMyCal includes full-featured webhooks that send events when a meeting is created, changed or cancelled. You can easily connect them to n8n, Make or your own backend system – free when self-hosting, and in the cloud they are part of the Pro plan.

Can the booking form be embedded directly into my website?

Yes, LockMyCal offers a responsive embed widget (inline, popup or a floating button) for embedding on any website using a universal code. The look of the form also adapts automatically to your colors.
